Looks like Disney has found its Ariel!

 

Another Disney classic will be turning into another live-action remake, this time, The Little Mermaid is being brought to life and singer Halle Bailey will play Ariel.  The singer recently tweeted, “Dream come true.”

And in case you’re wondering, ‘who is Halle Bailey?’ Halle is one-half of the amazingly talented R&B duo, Chloe x Halle.

The film will include a combination of classics from the original and new songs.  The live-action remake will be directed by Rob Marshall and in a recent statement, he said this about Halle: “After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”

In addition, Melissa McCarthy has been casted for the live-action Ursala.  No other characters have been announced as of yet.

According to reports, the film’s production is set to begin in early 2020.
